Ejemplos de superlativos en inglés:
Adjetivos cortos
Los adjetivos cortos forman el superlativo agregando «-est» al final:
- I have the cleanest room in the house. / Tengo la habitación más limpia de la casa.
- Motas is the fattest dog in the neighborhood. / Motas es el perro más gordo del barrio.
- Chemistry was the hardest subject in my school. / Química fue la asignatura más difícil en mi escuela.
- Diane has always been the smartest nurse in the hospital. / Diane siempre ha sido la enfermera más inteligente en el hospital.
- Yesterday, I saw the smallest sculpture in the world at the museum. / Ayer vi la escultura más pequeña del mundo en el museo.
Superlativos largos
Los adjetivos largos usan «the most» para formar el superlativo:
- The most creative project will win the contest. / El proyecto más creativo ganará el concurso.
- My grandfather was the most ambitious person in the family. / Mi abuelo era la persona más ambiciosa de la familia.
- Karen opened the most sophisticated store in town. / Karen abrió la tienda más sofisticada de la ciudad.
- I have the most impatient babysitter in the world. / Tengo la niñera más impaciente del mundo.
- I’m the most responsible member of the team. / Soy el miembro más responsable del equipo.
Adjetivos terminados en -Y
Cuando el adjetivo termina en «-y», se cambia por «-iest»:
- My boss is the busiest man here. / Mi jefe es el hombre más ocupado aquí.
- That band was the craziest one in the club. / Esa banda fue la más loca del club.
- I walked through the dirtiest street in this neighborhood. / Caminé por la calle más sucia de este barrio.
- Josh is the friendliest boy I’ve met. / Josh es el chico más amable que he conocido.
- I visited the happiest community in the region. / Visité la comunidad más feliz de la región.
Superlativos con adjetivos irregulares
Algunos adjetivos irregulares cambian por completo en su forma superlativa: Good → the best, Bad → the worst, Far → the furthest, Little/less → the least. Veamos algunas frases:
- Mrs. Graham cooks the best bread in the world. / La señora Graham cocina el mejor pan del mundo.
- Patrick got the worst result in the exam. / Patrick obtuvo el peor resultado en el examen.
- I had to buy the least expensive cellphone. / Tuve que comprar el celular menos caro.
- The furthest place I know is Australia. / El lugar más distante que conozco es Australia.
